I only entered the shop due to the 30% off everything. Browsed the walking boots and discussed the Berghaus with Kimmy who gave just the right amount of encouragement without pressure. She was great and I bought the boots. Usually buy footwear from Go Outdoors but delighted with this buy.
I popped into Blacks Hull to see if I could buy 2 pairs of snow grips for walking boots. I was given a very friendly greeting by a young lady & she promptly found what I was looking for. While I was there I had a look at walking shoes & was given advice when I asked questions. I left Blacks with a pair of walking shoes & 2 pair of snow grips & feeling happy. Thank you for helping me spend money on the correct equipment.
I ordered a sleeping bag and had to refuse it at the door. It was delivered in a brown paper bag with no other packaging at all. The paper bag was too small for the sleeping bag and tape had been used on the top to extend the paper bag with the sleeping bag hanging out the top (exposed to the elements) on both sides of the tape. The state was of the packaging was shocking and I have no idea how it was ever allowed to leave the warehouse in this state.

Marcus at the Worcester store, who sold us walking shoes for my partner, could not have been more helpful. He tirelessly traipsed back and forth to the stock room to get different shoes to try on. Finally, he ordered a pair on line to be delivered to us and was clear that if we weren't happy we could return it to his store. He also volunteered information on getting a discount - how honest! He would have been even more impressive had he offered advice on what is a perfect fit e.g. should one buy a shoe larger than one's normal size, how much wearing in does it require, how snug should it be.

As a family starting up camping we went to look around. All the staff were so helpful and knowledgeable. Simon gave us honest,practical advice and was able to use his own experience. No pushy sales, it was clear how knowledgeable he is. Paul (les dawson lookalike) was also extremely helpful. The girl behind the till was lovely. Great experience and definitely recommend.
I had occasion to take back a new camping lantern which by sheer bad luck was faulty . When I took it back I was served by Sussy who could not have been more pleasant and helpful . Thank you to Blacks Jersey and to Sussy ( hope I have soekt that correctly !) Really great service .

Walked in 5 mins before closing, looking for new walking shoes for an upcoming summer hiking trip. The customer service was excellent and Neil was very helpful and explained about the after care of the Salomon trail shoes. Great experience overall from Cheltenham Blacks. 😊
