Snakebites gone wrong. Traumatised.
I visited blue banana nottingham on may 6th 2024. i went in for snakebite piercings. i was marked, she checked for veins with a light before the first needle was put through. the jewellery was inserted and i could feel blood going down my chin, piercer began visibly panicking as my lip immediately swelled. she retrieved a senior piercer who claimed we had ‘irritated a blood vessel’. i was given a longer bar to put in after the swelling went down and left the shop with blood all over my chin and hands. i started having an anxiety attack and i had to go across town to the m&s toilets to clean the blood off me, only for the ball to fall off after barely touching it. my boyfriend accompanied me the whole time and he said we should return to the shop. i did not feel comfortable putting the ball back on or taking the jewellery out as blood was going everywhere. i returned to the shop where i was immediately helped, the senior piercer was very kind and helpful, removing the jewellery and ensuring that i was ok. however i have not recieved a refund and myself and my family are horrified that this has happened to me. my lip is extremely swollen, purple and full of blood, and i am struggling to talk with it. after consulting a different qualified piercer i have been advised by her that i have high veins, i should’ve been made aware of this by the piercer and then i could have decided if i still wanted the piercing as there was the risk of nicking a vein. the needle went straight through the vein. if i had known this was a risk with me personally i would have declined the piercing and asked for a refund. i will never ever be returning to this shop and i have been advised to report to trading standards. so disappointed and upset, and this has completely put me off getting any more piercings. i went to blue banana as they have a very good reputation and put my trust into that piercer to look after me correctly. and no refund 🙁
