My boyfriend chose a ring from Ernest Jones for our engagement in December. He proposed with it and it was a beautiful ring however needed altering to be made bigger. As they didn't have my size, they ordered a bigger one then made my size out of that. When I received the ring, it was a great size but very thin where it looked like it had been stretched to be made bigger. I thought nothing of this as I don't know much about this area. In April, 4 months after wearing the ring and taking good care of it (even taking it off to simply wash my hands) it snapped. I literally couldn't believe what had happened but the band snapped at the thin part of the ring. I took it back into the shop, was told they could fix it and it would be ready in a couple of weeks. A couple of weeks later, we got a phone call where we were told that they could not fix the ring (no reason why) and that they also no longer sold it. Therefore, there was no way I could have my ring that I had fallen in love with. We went into the shop to browse for a new ring, however, when we told the shop assistant the story, there was no empathy just 'oh' and she proceeded to show us rings that were double the price of the one we had. I mentioned that if I bought one from here I didn't want the same thing to happen and she told me I'd just need a different band but couldn't explain why that made a difference. I then went over to the rings on sale, but couldn't have any of these as there were none in my size. The woman then suggested we went back over to the more expensive rings after we had already explained we couldn't afford that price, at this point I asked for a refund so that we could go elsewhere. There was 0 sympathy, no acknowledgement that actually this was quite upsetting and not a great time for us and quite clearly the only intention was to upsell us. Not impressed at all.

Your system won’t accept United Kingdom and won’t let you continue without putting it in. It will accept any other country but not UK. This is definitely one way to loose customers as I spent half an hour attempting it and my husband again this evening
We went to Earnest Jones Chester to look for a replacement ring for my husband, we were served by Elaine who was lovely and extremely helpful, we ordered the ring and had it sent for engraving, Elaine kept us updated throughput the process right up to today when we were able to collect the ring which is lovely, thanks so much Elaine you made the whole process really easy and enjoyable 😊 M&B
Bought a ring online had to return it due to sizing issue. Was advised they received the ring but they have a 7 day delay in processing refunds at warehouse and then a 10 working day refund policy so waiting over 3 weeks for a refund at the moment is not acceptable. This should be clearly explained at point of online purchase and the staff have no idea what they are talking about as after speaking to two people on chat, and two on the phone they all gave differing accounts of the refund process and timescales. Certainly wont be looking at buying wedding bands from them now as they seem to be a shambles of a company.
Thank you to Cara for helping me choose a ring for my girlfriend’s 21st birthday present. Her knowledge was fantastic. Wonderful customer service. Felt at ease looking at the rings and no pressure unlike some shops. Thank you.
On a positive note, I think Ernest Jones prices remain very competitive and they have a good range of watches, even in the luxury segment. Now for the negative. After buying a damaged watch from Ernest Jones just earlier this year, which had to be returned, I was hesitant to buy another one but put it down to a one-off. I was wrong. I bought a Longines watch online a few weeks ago but when it arrived it was scratched in 3-4 places. The watch was returned to the Bromley store where I decided to exchange it. However, most Ernest Jones stores don't hold Longines watches in the store so it was ordered in the store. Interestingly, a member of staff told me at the time that sometimes there can be damage to watches if they are ex-display, however, there was no suggestion that the watches they were selling were ex-display. Which makes you wonder. When the second watch arrived, it also had a scratch and the watch documentation was not complete so I returned it again and decided to give them one more opportunity to 'get it right'. When the third watch arrived, it had a scratch and there was dust inside the dial. I returned it today only to be told they could not complete the refund in the store. So, it is now being handled by Head Office and I'm waiting for a refund. The staff in the store were polite and helpful and I accept that mistakes happen but it would have been useful if they had checked the watches thoroughly after the first return so I didn't have the inconvenience of returning the second and third watches and having to travel three times to the store. This experience has been very disappointing, and while the prices at Ernest Jones are very competitive, I'm not sure I would buy from them again.
Bought 2 pairs of sleeper earrings £55 each one of the earrings broke soon as I put it in cheap gold I sent them back still not refunded 9 days later
Said i had a 10% off for joining wouldnt let me add this at the payment Still bought it because i wanted the item but why get me to sign up etc of you wont honour the discount code
Nice deals when on sale. Good option when gifting someone.
Absolute scam. Brought a ring on Sunday priced around £800 online. Get a message on Tuesday stating there is no stock available. Check online and see the cost of the ring is now £1800 clearly someone had put the wrong price on the website and they are now cancelling all orders. Spoke to customer experience and resolution team who were absolutely useless. Just putting the small claims court papers together now to send off, will also be contacting the advertising standards agency for false advertising
I tried for every code 10 percent discount none them worked
I have only just made the order with half hr to spare on the sale, I'm hoping the ring is as good as it looks!!
They have no understanding of their stock levels. The first order was had to be cancelled after it didn’t arrive. The store said it was no longer in stock. The 2nd order was supposed to arrive 3 days after purchase and is yet to arrive over 2 weeks on. Avoid
was smooth xxx
Promotions and small print are all over the place. On the same page for an item I wanted to buy I was also offered a discount code and money off a necklace if purchased together. No where did the T&Cs say these offers were mutually exclusive. Add one the other goes full price and vice versa. I’ll be onto customer service next as this was a painful experience and I nearly jumped ship to buy cheaper elsewhere but I’m hoping that someone in customer service can still fulfil the promise being offered. —- Update 11 May: I’ve had several phone and email exchanges with EJ “resolution team” and have sent them a number of screenshots to point out what looks like a bad set of promotional t&cs that do not correctly relate to the promotion. Review now down to 1star as it is taking EJ too long to accept error.
