We got a Chinese wall hanging on canvas from them a couple of years ago. It’s wonderful, much appreciated by all and great value. They were easy and friendly to work with and my kids are going to start using them in their new homes.
The range of images and products at Surface View is impressive, and the quality seems good. Unfortunately the process of obtaining samples is difficult and alienating for the average customer. I had three rooms to wallpaper, and I requested 10 x A5 samples of wall murals. You have to email the company to request samples as opposed to simply ordering them. I was told that would be fine and my samples would be posted, but nobody told me that they don't send samples of the images you want. They send you one image (of their choice!) printed on several different textures. If you want samples of specific images you have to pay something in the vicinity of £10 per bespoke A3 sample (I can't remember the exact price) which would be around £100 total for me. Apparently this is because they have a lot of different products, and images/colours will look slightly different printed on different textures. That's understandable, but I'd be happy with a few A5 samples on plain card that would give an approximation of the colour and image. Then once I've narrowed it down I could purchase A3 samples in my chosen material to be absolutely certain about colours. I hope Surface View will consider doing something like this, because at the moment the website seems targeted to designers and not the general public. Designers may be able to afford to spend £100 on samples they can reuse with other clients, but for most of us that's pretty extravagant. Even if I did order samples at this stage, I'd be ordering a lot less than I'm interested in, which doesn't make good business sense. I won't be going forward with Surface View - there are other UK companies that do murals etc. and charge very little for samples.
