Don't waste your time!!

Absolute joke of a company! Booked a tyre change for Tuesday paid £18 for a slot between 8am-8pm phoned up twice and was left on hold for over 20mins each time without managing to get through to anyone and in the end the tyre fitter never showed up no warning or nothing. I'm self employed so I lost a day's pay for nothing. Phoned up the next morning and spoke to someone who quite frankly sounded like they couldn't care less. Told me she'd rearrange the booking for the next day between 6pm-8pm. And imagine my surprise the tyre fitting failed to show up again! No warning or anything!! This company is an absolute joke don't waste your time and money!! If I could give them 0 stars I would.

Started very badly, finished OK

Booked a tyre change for Sunday 8am-8pm. Received reassuring emails all day Saturday. Set my alarm to be up at 8am. Received a call at 9am which only rang once before ringing off, so I didn't get to it in time. Then received an email saying they'd tried to contact me without success. Oh no they didn't. They rang me once to make it look like that. I rang into them. Told the technician was off sick, & booking needed to be rescheduled. I told them that this wasn't acceptable. I had paid, we had a contract & they needed to keep it. Told again this wasn't possible. Tried to raise a complaint with a manager, but the operator wouldn't put me though. Said she'd contact head office. I said they needed to ring me back in an hour, & I wasn't accepting a reschedule. This is when things started going right. Head office rang me back after an hour & said a replacement technician would be with me at 3pm. He turned up soon after 3pm & fitted my tyre without a hitch. It's not acceptable to pretend to ring someone by just ringing once. It's not acceptable to cancel bookings when a single person is off sick when you are a large organisation. It's not acceptable to refuse to take a complaint at first point of contact. Zero stars increased to two given the eventual successful resolution.

Rubbish service I’ve had 2 technicians…

Rubbish service I’ve had 2 technicians come out to fit tyres but due to lazy ness they make excuses not to fit them, don’t even waste your time and money

WE'RE READY TO DO HALF OF THE JOB THAT YOU PAID FOR

We were booked in for front and rear dashcam - the cheapest slot is 8am - 8pm and that's what we chose. Our fitter rang just before noon - we assumed it was the call to say they were on their way. We were partly right - but were on their way - but with only half of our order. At what point did they know? But chose to ignore it until the last second. We were offered half a job today and half at some point in the future. Or all of it together when, at some point, they have the missing bit. So, having waited in all morning, we chose to the latter. We don't yet know when it will be but I'd bet anything that they'll want it on the same 8-8 basis. Would be stretching their customer service to pin it down a bit.

They really did give good service

They really did give good service, turned up on time, quick and efficient. They guy doing the work was polite and friendly and ready to answer any questions. Had all four tyres done towards the end of April and have got no complaints about the quality at all

Another bad experience

Another bad experience! Thought I’d give them another chance but first time the guys come to fit four new tyres to my wife’s car, the fitters pointed out the tyres were misshaped! Further examination revealed date stamps showing tyres were over four years old! Not the fitters fault at all but pretty poor trying to pass off old tyres that were clearly stored badly. Attempt two was worse. Guy turned up apologetic and said ‘I’m not fitting the tyres they’ve given me. They’re all over four years old and one of them has a completely different tread pattern!’ That’s not recommended and forbidden on a 4x4. Ordered cancelled, money refunded and went to a local tyre garage who had a better tyre and a better price. And the tyres were made the month before! So it seems the issues in field have improved but the supply chain needs an overhaul.

Not the tyres I ordered

Ordered & paid for 4 new tyres, guy arrived and fitted them. Afterwards, I noticed they were not the tyres I ordered ?? - turns out that Halfords changed the tyres to another brand and fitted them without prior approval from myself?? Immediately complained, but the old tyres could not be retrieved, and the ones I wanted are no longer available? They offered £20 discount and basically said you will have to accept the situation. Don't know whether I will get on with the tyres supplied, so might end up now having to buy another 4 new ones. Disgraceful that Halfords think it's okay to treat customers in this way.

4th time lucky..

I purchased my tyre replacement and booked my initial appointment in for Sunday 28th April, specifically booking in a set time slot. No one turned up. I then called on the Monday morning to reschedule this, which was eventually done over the phone for Wednesday, again, with a specific time slot. No one turned up for the second time. I then called again to have it booked in for Friday 3rd. Amazingly someone did turn up for the appointment, but they had forgotten to pick up my tyre so couldn't do the job. 4th time lucky I did eventually have a great chap who turned up to do the job, but having been left without a car for an entire week due to the previous incompetence, I can't say I'll be rushing back to Tyres on the Drive. Barely any apology was given over the phone, apart from when I eventually got through to a great chap at the Greenford (from memory) branch.

The car battery fitted was not the one I ordered

My car battery was changed and I was happy with the service. However on later inspection the battery fitted was not the one I had ordered. No one had told me of any problem getting the battery I ordered. I am happy with the supplied battery but I have asked for a receipt showing the actual battery fitted. After many emails sent and all ignored I tried phoning and did actually talk to a helpful chap. Now one month on I have given up asking. Halfords are generally a good company but communicating with them appears to be impossible.

Absolutely shocking service

Absolutely shocking service. Order failed their end, but no communication from them. Tyres didn't arrive. Payment pending on my account and refused to supply email saying they wouldn't collect the money. Had to wait a month for funds to be released back to my account. Call centre in South Africa that frankly were about as much use as a chocolate teapot. MOT was missed due to this incident, but they were willing to take even more money from me to supply tyres that they'd failed to supply. Will not use again. Halfords, a major disappointment

Careless technician putting cars in vulnerable position

The technician started job With bully attitude. He was about to break trim when i stopped and taught him To tale wheel nuts off before taking the yrim off as hyundia ioniq has this way. He got so offended that he start his attitudr problem. I asked him to put wheel cap Where he didnt put on. He didnt put the right tyre guage pressure and left my car on pressure of 28 and 32 On front end Leaving my car dangerous level with less control. I was test driving car as i saw him again . He was Careless towards my car. When i noticed all this problms I asked him to fix it as he went same direction as mine . And asked him if he can make my car less dangerous And do job properly There he saw am not recording on my mobile and he starting becoming abusive. The company need to train there technician specially this one Some manners and less bulliness And care towards his job As his this carelessness can cause accident in clients cars. I have two kids I have pictures evidences and now seeking legal advise As this technician van ruin somone life by leaving car in dangerous position. Never halford tyres on drive again. I want my kids life and my life safe. I am worried for other car whose tyres are fixed by this technician

Bad refund process

As far as the booking process and the quality of the job is concerned I have no complaints. The refund process though if something changes is really bad. I booked 2 tyres to be fitted at home. The fitter confirmed that in fact only 1 tyre needed to be changed and they were going to give me a refund for the other tyre. I asked him if I needed to sign anything and he said no. Needless to say that I had to chase for the refund and Halfords had to open a case for me. Why raise a case? The process should be straightforward . The fitter should have contacted the head office to let them know that only 1 tyre was fitted instead of 2 and a refund was due. I shouldn't have to chase them for the refund...let alone that I still don't have any written confirmation from them that a refund is due even though I requested an email confirmation. They said they were unable to confirm by email!

Not a good company

They stripped the thread on two wheel nuts whilst fitting two front tyres. I understand things sometimes go wrong but they just scarpered leaving me stranded. When I called them they hung up. Emails are not answered along with recorded delivery letters. The reviews here only reflect things going well. This is not a good company if you have a fault. I now have to take them to court for damages. The order number is Receipt Number 521,468,928. Whilst someone did phone back they left a message saying call me back. No mobile or direct number. It was one of those numbers that you have to wait ages on hold. When I did get through the half wit on the phone had no idea why I was calling. Another hour wasted.

Got a defect in my tyre few months…

Got a defect in my tyre few months after purchasing brand new. Emailed them and no reply. Rang them and nobody answered for 40 minutes. No way of getting through to speak to someone that could help. Really disappointing service Request for Tire Repair - Order #2016678

Incompetent company

Booked them to fit 2 tyres for me. Had to cancel due to the fitter that did my husband’s tires causing 3 1/2 grands worth of damage to his van. Took 12 days for them to even process my refund and at the moment I still don’t have my money. Would never recommend this company to anyone

Ordered and paid for two tyres to be fitted at home . On the 8/4/24 a fabulous guy came and did the job but told me I only needed one new tyre . I was sent a new invoice the following day - a refund of £46.93 was due . I waited 7 days but nothing ! I then called and was given a case number and told to wait 3-5 days but still nothing . Another call yesterday from me to be told someone would email me but I m still waiting - awful service Order number A972B001325 Update - after another email sent refund is finally with PayPal

Great fitting service but poor…

Great fitting service but poor aftercare. I had 4 tyres fitted on 3/4. 2 days later a tyre went totally flat over 9 hrs due to what I presume to be a seal. As I was in the 30 day guarantee period I immediately emailed Halfords but got no answer. I then used their online chat system and left a message for an agent as nobody was available. I just kept pumping the tyre up. Still no joy. Today after 4 days away we've come home and the tyre is flat again so I've emailed Halfords again. Hopefully I will get an answer before my 30 day guarantee expires.

Dreadful, will never use again

Paid £262.38 for 3 tyres to be fitted on my doorstep with their mobile fitting service on 15th April. Their mechanic comes back to my door saying 'have you ever had a tyre changed on this vehicle since you've owned it'. Yes! I replied, and it was Halfords Mobile that did it. 'Well, they must've used an automatic tool to do it as they've broken your locking wheel nut look'. I was flabbergasted! He told me to buy a new one from a dealership. They are not cheap! If what he says is true, then Halfords effectively broke it and they should then play to replace it. He then went on to say he's cancelling my booking and I'll get a refund. After nearly 10 days later, I've sent numerous emails to the email address listed on their website, copied in their complaints team, plus a bunch of other email addresses of theirs (OK, I admit ALL of them, including the CEO!) Nothing! Crickets! Not a word back from them. Paypal said to contact them also via their paypal email address for refunds, not a single response, from that or the other email addresses. In my sheer frustration, I moved this to Twitter DM. Where I caringly got reassured someone would contact me 'soon'. This was told to me every single say from 16th April until the date I am writing this review. No one ever did get back to me. Not even their resolutions team. There is something seriously lacking with this company. It seems they're keen to swallow up your hundreds of pounds, but are nowhere to be seen once you require a refund. I might add that on the date and time the mechanic was here, the heavens opened, and it the heaviest rain I'd seen in years. I believe to this day he was merely trying to get out of doing the job in such torrential rain. I've suffered much stress as a result of this shoddy company, it's staff and it's lack of responsibility to its customer. I will be removing myself as a customer of theirs going forward. I was a member of their motoring plan and had every car service done with them. I will not do business with cowboys. When a customer writes in, it is good manners to have at least an auto responder reply with some kind of acknowledgement of having received the email. You get nothing. Judging by all the other terrible reviews I see I'm not alone in my judgment at the dis-service this company provides.

The technician did not show up on the…

The technician did not show up on the day of appointment despite receiving a confirmation email of the booking. I waited around all day and when I finally got through to someone they told me the booking was not valid even though Halfords had taken my money. What if my tyres were below the legal limit and I was unable to drive the car?! Or if I was an elderly person who relied on the vehicle etc. After this Halfords took an age to respond via email so I had to follow this up with their customer service team via several phone calls. Poor communication, shocking customer service and useless systems. I am aware of this happening to several others around the country also. I will not be using Halfords again. I used a local mobile fitter who did two tyres on my vehicle for 50 pound cheaper than Halfords were charging for the same tyres.
