Maurice de Mauriac Watches - This Swiss brand was founded at the end of the 20^th century, by Daniel Dreifuss in 1997. The family-owned and operated business, located in Zurich,  creates mechanical watches with a minimalist design and a focus on colors and straps. It even worked with industrial designer Fabian Schwaerzler for its L-Series of timepieces. The watches predominantly fall in the under  $5,000 price range.

Moritz Grossmann Watches born in Dresden in 1826, was a visionary German watchmaker who ran his own watchmaking business until he died in 1885. The brand was revived in 2008 when trained watchmaker Christine Hutter discovered the venerable Glashütte brand and had it re-registered. Today gifted watchmakers continue preserving the Moritz Grossmann traditions with innovation, outstanding craftsmanship, and a mix of both old and new manufacturing techniques.

HYT Watches - Founded in 2012, HYT was the first watch brand to use fluids to tell the time. HYT’s hybrid watches combine mechanical movements with fluid technology. It uses two flexible reservoirs where a liquid is stored and attached capillaries through which the liquid moves to indicate the time. This revolutionary “Mecafluidic” system is patented. Today HYT is an ecosystem that unites science, hi-technology, philosophy, art and design. Gorilla Watches Relatively young in the watch world, Gorilla was launched in 2016 as a brand driven by power, performance, and the desire to be different. Design is at the forefront of the brand’s philosophy, along with solid watchmaking behind it (the brand uses Miyota automatic movements). Also important to the brand is the use of high-tech materials including ceramic and forged carbon, all at a great price/value ratio.

Chronoswiss Watches - Founded in 1983 in Lucerne, Switzerland, by German master watchmaker Gerd-Rudiger Lang, Chronoswiss is known for its mechanical innovations. The brand was the first to miniaturize the regulator concept from pocket watches and develop an entire series of fascinating wristwatches with off-center displays. Today, the brand brings the classical idea to full-scale contemporary three-dimensional size. Its Flying Regulators with Open Gears complement its Heritage and Classic lines.

Based in Lucca, Italy, U-Boat watches use Swiss movements. U-Boat watches have a truly distinctive look to them that can be spotted from across a crowded room. Collections include the Classico, the Chimera, the U42, and the recently released Capsoil with fluid inside.

Oris Watches - Just over a century old, the Oris watch brand was founded in Hölstein, Switzerland, in 1904. The brand was known for its top-notch mechanical watches and, since the early part of the 20^th century, for its pilot and aviation watches with signature oversized onion crowns. Today, Oris builds superb mechanical watches for diving, aviation, and motorsports, as well as classic contemporary pieces that have a cult-like following. The independently owned brand is all about thinking outside of the box with its marketing and communications efforts, as well.

Arnold and Son Watches - With roots dating back to England in 1764, Arnold & Son pays tribute to English watchmaker John Arnold (1736-1799) who was instrumental in the development of ship’s chronometers to help solve the problem of longitude at sea. He created many “firsts” in watchmaking, and today, the brand that bears his name is dedicated to the same pioneering spirit, regularly unveiling highly complicated calibers that stir hearts around the world.

De Bethune Watches - Swiss independent watch brand De Bethune was first founded in 2002 in Switzerland. The brand looked to create avant-garde designs with chronometric precision. De Bethune’s most popular collections include the DB series of watches that feature lugs that enable the case to move so it is more ergonomically appealing on the wrist. It is known for its use of bold blue color in its cutting-edge timepieces.
