U Boat Watches - Founded in the year 2000 by Italo Fontana in Tuscany Italy, U-Boat is known for its oversized cases and big watches. They stem from drawings Italo found of his grandfather’s who was creating watch designs for the Italian Navy during World War II. Inspired, Italo opted to start his own Italian-based watch company. Based in Lucca, Italy, U-Boat watches use Swiss movements. U-Boat watches have a truly distinctive look to them that can be spotted from across a crowded room. Collections include the Classico, the Chimera, the U42, and the recently released Capsoil with fluid inside.

Raketa Watches date back to 1961 and is named after the Russian word for “Rocket” in honor of Yuri Gagarin’s historic spaceflight. Known for producing all their mechanical parts in-house, including hairsprings and escapements, Raketa gained prominence in the 1970s as one of the world’s largest watchmakers, creating iconic models like the “Big Zero.” Inspired by heroic personalities and incredible achievements, each Raketa watch tells a story of tradition and innovation. After challenges following the Soviet Union’s collapse, the brand was revitalized in 2010 by David Henderson-Stewart.

Zodiac Watches - Initially founded in 1882, the Zodiac watch brand is today owned by Fossil, Inc. The brand was founded on the concept of creating Swiss watches with a purpose — tool watches. Today it is primarily known for its dive watches and is committed to the conservation of the oceans and sea life. With price ranges from $500 to about $2,000, the brand is known for its  Super Sea Wolf dive watches and its Sea Dragon Chronographs, Grandrally watches, and more.

Louis Erard Watches - Outwardly billing itself as the “Made in Switzerland Value Proposition” brand, Louis Erard was originally founded in 1893 by watchmaker Louis Erard. It created fine Swiss watches over the years but then had a lull in the late 1990s. It was purchased by a private investor in 2003 and has since revived as a maker of mechanical watches with timeless design and high-quality movements. Despite the affordable prices of these watches, each is finely finished so that the brand and the watch owner can take pride in the traditional Swiss craftsmanship.

Airain Watches - Montres Airain was originally founded by the esteemed Dodane family in 1934, gaining recognition for its reliable and high-quality timepieces. During the 1950s and 1960s, Airain was one of the select suppliers (along with Breguet and Dodane) of the Type 20 model for the French Army. The Type 20 refers to a specification for pilot’s chronographs issued by the French Ministry of Defense. Beyond the Type 20 chronograph, Airain’s legacy includes iconic models such as the ‘Sous-Marine’ dive watch and the Airain ’77’ from the 1950s, which remain highly sought after by collectors worldwide. After relaunching Airain’s sister brand, Lebois & Co, in 2014, we turned our attention to Airain, then owned by a passionate French entrepreneur.

Lorus Watches is one of the brands made and marketed by the world famous Seiko Watch Corporation who also make Seiko watches, Seiko and Lorus clocks. You can find the product just for you amongst all these brands across a wide price range from Euro 16 to Euro 2,500, although Lorus concentrates on the Euro 16 to Euro 160 range. Lorus was first launched in Europe in 1982 to complement the already popular Seiko brands. Lorus was an instant success, offering not only affordable products, but products with high design and technology qualities. Taking advantage of the huge commitments to technology advancement made by the Seiko, Lorus now offers a wide variety of watches in its product collection, alongside all the standard functions such as solar, digital, duo-display and alarm-chronographs.

Carl Suchy & Söhne - The Emperor's Choice - Carl Suchy & Söhne is a luxury watch brand from Vienna, Austria with a royal legacy since 1822. In 2016, Carl Suchy & Söhne was brought back to life - the mechanical wristwatch "Waltz No1" is dedicated in design to the Viennese turn-of-the-century architect Adolf Loos and his love of simple elegance. The "Waltz No1" is produced in Switzerland and powered by the high-quality Swiss automatic caliber "VMF 5401" with micro rotor.

Ateliers Demonaco Watches - Founded in 2008 in Geneva, Switzerland, Atelier de Monaco is an interesting story. The brand was co-founded by Peter Stas, then-owner of Frederique Constant, and Pim Koeslag, master watchmaker (who worked for Stas).  Koeslag’s dream was to create bespoke and limited-edition complicated mechanical watches that would be made at the highest level of watchmaking and entirely in-house. Today, the brand boasts multiple patents and is known for its Tourbillon collection, Perpetual Calendar series with “EaZy adjust” system and more.

Mauron Musy Watches was founded in 2013 by Eric Mauron and Christophe Musy in Switzerland’s Broye Valley. The brand was born out of a desire to create watches for friends and family but quickly gained attention for its innovative approach. Mauron Musy’s defining moment came with the development of their patented nO-Ring® technology, a gasketless sealing system that provides water resistance up to 300 meters without the need for traditional rubber seals. Mauron Musy prides itself on being “100% Swiss Crafted,” a standard that goes beyond the typical “Swiss Made” label.

Gorilla Watches Relatively young in the watch world, Gorilla was launched in 2016 as a brand driven by power, performance, and the desire to be different. Design is at the forefront of the brand’s philosophy, along with solid watchmaking behind it (the brand uses Miyota automatic movements). Also important to the brand is the use of high-tech materials including ceramic and forged carbon, all at a great price/value ratio.
